Cat Ramos

Learning Specialist

For 30+ years, Cat has been a highly skilled and dedicated progressive educator, art therapist, curriculum coordinator, DEI leader, organizational wizard, parenting expert, and elementary school assistant head at Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica. Her areas of teaching expertise include: time management, executive functioning, reading, writing, and math enrichment as well as life skills.

Cat’s experience as a second, fourth, fifth and sixth grade lead teacher, in both public and independent schools, has resulted in her deep understanding of how students learn to read, write and apply mathematical knowledge. Relationship-building, the joy of teaching and learning, the willingness to take safe risks and to make and learn from mistakes, are her guiding principles.

After earning her MEd in Expressive Arts Therapies from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, and working as an educational therapist in Boston and Michigan, Cat moved to NYC to study Educational Technologies at New York University, and worked as a senior researcher, line producer and executive producer for Children’s Television Workshop using the Sesame Street characters in software development for ages 2-5.

Her many talents include weaving, juggling and making educational read-aloud videos. Cat loves to spend time with her husband, Ramon, a retired LAUSD elementary school teacher who teaches Shakespeare at LACC, her daughter, Arielle, and her rescue-dog, Penny.
